Please be aware that there may be minor delays to services next week to allow for the weekend works to settle in.
During the closure earthing and bonding work, signaling work and installation of overhead wires for electrification will be carried out from Newmarket to Westfield. Platform improvement works are continuing at Penrose and Greenlane stations while along the Onehunga line work continues in preparation for electrification.
Along the Southern line, KiwiRail is constructing a new third main line near Cavendish Drive, Manukau. Guard conductors, which keep electric wires from touching the underside of bridges, will be installed under the Middlemore and Puhinui footbridges. Also at Middlemore, cantilevers and anchors for electric wires will be installed.
The major improvement programme at Papakura Station is on track. Construction of foundations for overhead wire masts, signaling work and platform drainage works on the island platform will be done this weekend.

Why in error? Platform 2 changing for an unknown reason? I wouldn't think so, beyond the lengthening toward the south?

If so, then there's currently no spare set, which may mean some cancellations, or perhaps an ADL4 set being split into two ADL2 sets while repairs are carried out on SD 5652.

What is that supposed to accomplish! It's an SD, so we're down a genset as well. Whether it was a 3, 4, 5 or 6 car, we are down a whole set now. Going by other issues lately, they will want this set back in service ASAP. As it is there simply isn't enough train sets for the new timetable.john-ston wrote:What are the chances of 5652 being repaired and back in service? Or are we going to see more five car sets?

john-ston wrote:Hence my comment about are we going to see more five-car sets now - if 5652 is not repaired, then we have three spare SA carriages - and better to include them in a train set than have them sitting in Westfield Yards gathering dust.
