Well I guess this was inevitable:

What will this likely mean for maintenance facilities/ I have always thought Woburn days would be numbered due to its location. Or will it be a rationalization in Palmerston North or Frankton?

Apparently from this week, all DC's are only allowed to operate as trailing units. Rumour was due to corrosion. So it looks like the end is near for the class.

Not all - some are still permitted to on the Kauri shunt and a few other places

Elsewhere:
(now) DFB7023 has been released from Hutt
DFT7132 has gone back across the Strait with DXB5114 back in the North Island
DC4916 has been sent to the Hutt parking lot

And finally - the two DXRs have finally been recovered and were trucked to Kaikoura. Likely that after a going over they'll be put to work on work trains working out of the north end of the MNL rebuild

Read in a recent KR Express that the DCs are two be split 12/13 between the islands, and that about half have now been returned to full service.

^^^Meanwhile, there are talks that DBR's 1254 and 1295 have been rescued by GVR. Not sure about 1199 though, as there was an article about someone wanting to buy it.
