Posts Per Page

Postby jarbury » Sun May 06, 2012 7:32 pm

At the moment the board settings have 10 posts per page. My feeling is that this is a bit too low and I'm considering whether we should raise it to 20 posts. This would mean more characters loading on each page (so potentially more data usage for viewing the forum) but would limit the needs to flick back and forward from pages all the time.

Thoughts?

Can you introduce an option to allow individual users to change the number of posts per page?

At least 20...

My workplace uses the same template for an internal forum and upped it from 10-20. Not such a big issue for frequent users but its a pain for those not on here every day or so

Most of my use is mobile. 20 would be great but as detailed in another thread, I'd really like to see the forum mobile-optimised.

We are working on making the forum more mobile friendly.

Anyone have details about how to do it.

I'm not a phpBB geek, but IIRC, you can install a template like phpBB-Mobile for people to enable. That would probably help the wide cross-section of mobile users (not just iOS like myself, but Windows Phone, Android...)

How about Tapatalk?
http://www.tapatalk.com/faq.php

I believe it's free to activate. Then users can download the Tapatalk smartphone app to access the forum.

The app is free for a read-only version or $4.19 I think for the premium version where you can make posts and read private messages.

Might make the purchase worthwhile if this forum activates it :D

I think 20 per page is good, but if the user can change that setting to suit themselves, then that would be better...

I don't think it's possible to make it a user-set setting, but I will check.
