The write-up on local rail history at http://www.swannanoa.net/wiki.pl/Railway looks like it used to contain relevant photos. Maybe if you contact the webmaster they might be able to tell you where to find them?

Try contacting organisations like Rail Heritage NZ or local (Canterbury) historical/rail societies or other heritage groups - they might have a library/collection of their own you could access, or point you in the direction of a local person or museum that may be able to help.

Ivan Taylor of the Kaiapoi Museum has prepared a book for publication called the "Railways of North Canterbury". This book has sections on both these railways and includes a number of interesting photos.
You could also access www nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-corpus-railways. This contains the "NZ Railway Magazine" (1926-1940). The October 1927 issue has an article about the "Engines that ran on the Oxford branch" and photo.
