Note in the "Grand Anniversaries" section, this one:

William Veale Sales Agent Passenger Wellington Railway Station 18 February 2012 60 years.

That is NOT a typo- Bill has worked for "the old firm" and several versions of the new one for 60 years- an impressive achivement in any industry. My congratulations to him. I hope that the company will recognise this anniversary as being deserving of very special observence.

Thanks again for the posting
I liked the Bolivian bus train and often though something similar would be useful in NZ especially where existing lines exist and pass through settlements. My ambition was to try and get a New Plymouth to Tamranui service linking the daily overlander in either direction and return till they closed the SOL line. Now someone wants to use golf carts.! please!!
Also though of the measures to stop people riding the train roofs how would that go down in NZ
Cheers Mi

Pretty interesting stuff about the damage caused by the Ants, as a Pest Control Technician I know there is a new spray out on the market that could save them thousands of dollars each year as it delays the time taken for the Ant to die after they cross the spray line and this allows them to wipe out the nest.
